In this paper we present a hierarchical competence model approach based on the solution qualities. Using this hierarchical approach we propose a new method for visualizing case base competence and understanding the way a CBR system behaves in different parts of the problem space. The visualization method has been used in the TempoExpress system, a CBR system for applying expressivity-aware tempo transformations to recordings of musical performances.}, author = {Maarten Grachten and Alejandro Garc{\'\i}a-Otero and Josep Lluis Arcos}, editor = {H{\'e}ctor Mu{\~n}oz-Avila and Francesco Ricci} }
