IIIA collaboration with the World Health Organization and Citibeats will be presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Public Health Association APHA 2023 taking place in Atlanta in November.

The infodemic accompanying the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted a need for rapid social understanding to inform infodemic management and response. The WHO Early AI-Supported Response with Social Listening (EARS) platform was developed to help meet this need. The EARS platform has collected 215,469,045 social and news media posts for processing between December 2020 to February 2022.. A machine learning algorithm was developed to categorise data to a public health taxonomy. The algorithm outperformed the boolean search query method by a large margin for precision and recall in both English and Spanish (p<.001). A variety of filters provided useful tools for infodemic insight generation.
