What data do we collect?

IIIA collects the following data:

• Personal identification information (Name, email address, and any additional information you provide in your CV)
• PhD projects you are interested in
• Statement of interest
• Academic transcripts
• Research reports and publications
• Names and email addresses of two referees you think can provide a letter of reference about you

How do we collect your data?

You directly provide IIIA with the data we collect when you voluntarily register online to our Prospective Students database.

How will we use your data?

IIIA collects your data so that we can:

• Process your application to currently open PhD positions at IIIA
• Email you with information about recently opened positions at IIIA and other funding opportunities we think you might be interested in.

How do we store your data?

IIIA securely stores your data at its own servers (iiia.csic.es) and is only accessible to IIIA’s IT staff.

IIIA will keep the data you provided when registering to the Prospective Students database until the  31st December of the year of your registration or of your registration renewal. One month before this day is reached, we will ask you by email if you want to renew your registration and update your data for us to keep for another year. If you answer negatively, or you do not answer, we will delete your data by erasing your record. (We keep security backups of our servers, which are overwritten with new data after aproximately one year.) If, however, you answer positively we will renew your registration to the Prospective Students database for the following year.

Advertising

IIIA would like to send you by email information about recently opened PhD positions at IIIA and other PhD funding opportunities we think you might be interested in.

If you have agreed to receive emails from us regarding this information, you may always opt out at a later date.

You have the right at any time to stop IIIA from contacting you for advertising purposes or giving your data to other members of the CSIC.

What are your data protection rights?

IIIA would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

• The right to access – You have the right to request IIIA for copies of your personal data.
• The right to rectification – You have the right to request that IIIA correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request IIIA to complete the information you believe is incomplete.
• The right to erasure – You have the right to request that IIIA erase your personal data.
• The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that IIIA restrict the processing of your personal data.
• The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to IIIA’s processing of your personal data.
• The right to data portability – You have the right to request that IIIA transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you.
